Now we are taking on another battle…Wood vs. Plastic Pallets

The Competition
The wooden pallets comes out the clear favorite with a long and solid track record. The wood pallet is battle tested and are proven to be affordable, flexible, repairable, and reliable. A fan favorite, 95% of all pallets are wooden.(Source: Inbound Logistics)

The up and comer plastic pallet, though, can pack a punch as well. It is durable, bug and mold free, aesthetically pleasing, and contains no nails or fasteners. While cost per pallet is significantly higher, it can be the right choice for some users.

The Decision: A Draw
The catch is that there is no clear-cut winner here. For the overwhelming majority of users, wooden pallets will remain the best viable option. However, for specific industries and products, the plastic pallets benefits outweigh the initial cost. Make sure your pallet provider goes over the benefits and drawbacks as it relates to your needs rather than to what they have to offer. At Olympic we offer both wooden and plastic pallets and want to work with you to develop your best program, which may consist of wooden pallets, plastic pallets, or a combination of the two.
