Recycled GMA Pallets

Recycled GMA Pallets consist of reusable 48” x 40” 4-Way Pallets. This is the “standard” pallet used by the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association (GMA). The GMA pallet is basically a commodity in the pallet industry, as price is often determined by supply and demand.

Two examples of a Recycled GMA Pallet:

48” x 40” GMA #1 or Grade A Pallet: Usually this GMA pallet is repaired close to its original condition. Broken stringers may be replaced or repaired with metal plates. All damaged deck boards are replaced. After repair, this pallet is fairly clean and structurally sound.

48” x 40” GMA #2 or Grade B Pallet: Typically, this is a GMA pallet that has had stringer damage and is repaired by attaching a companion stringer alongside the damaged one. This pallet is commonly referred to as as “double-stringer” or “plug pallet ”. The deck configuration on this grade pallet is not always consistent because this pallet may have been repaired several times.

 

Recycled Block Pallets

Recycled Block Pallets consist of various sizes of pallets, or skids, designed with wooden blocks and stringers in place of runners. Repairs may be made to damaged blocks, stringers, or decking.

 

Combo Pallets

Combo Pallets are repaired pallets that may have a combination of new runners and recycled decking or vice versa. These include pallets of assorted sizes due to the specific requirements of the customer. The pallet construction is generally strong because material has been cut to size and assembled like new pallets.

 

Remanufactured Pallets

Remanufactured Pallets are made of all recycled material that has been reclaimed from recycled pallets. After the material has been reclaimed, it is cut to size and used for rebuilding pallets. Remans, like Combo Pallets, consist of assorted sizes made to the specifications of the customer.

 

Euro Pallets

Euro Pallets are pallets that meet the standards set by the European Union. They consist of many different sizes. Euro Pallets are repaired using blocks and companion boards since Euro Pallets are all block type pallets.

 

Drum Pallets

Drum Pallets are used primarily for shipment of drums. The most popular size of drum pallets in circulation in the recycled market is the 48” x 48”, but overall majority range from a 44” square pallet to the 48” square. Repairs may be made to the decking, blocks, or stringers to allow damaged pallets to cycle again.
